Notification Database

The Notification Database was revamped in 2008/2009. It wasn't possible to move old visits over to the new system. Instead, the old system is available as an archive of all visits between 2004 and 2008. You can access the archive for your school/establishment via the Learning Net..

Your username and password are unaffected and you can log in to the new system using your existing account details.

All school admin accounts have also been upgraded to allow access to the new Notification Database.

Some of the improvements we've made:

  • A few questions have been reworded in response to your feedback
  • Overseas visits are now highlighted in green once LA approval has been granted
  • You can now duplicate an existing entry to save typing out the same information year after year for annual/repeat visits
  • You can request that a visit be deleted by the administrator (Dave Barham), if it's no longer going ahead

How to create an account

It's quick and easy to create a user account - you simply need to complete a short registration form and choose a username & password.

How to enter a visit

Firstly, you need to login to the Database via the Learning Net:

  1. Go to www.n-yorks.net
  2. Click on 'Login or Register' in the hand corner of the screen (in the blue bar at the very top of the page)
  3. Enter your username & password
  4. Click on 'Notification of visits and activities' under 'Useful Tools' in the blue box on the right hand side of the page

The database is presented as an online form, with questions/tick boxes for you to complete. The first page you see has two drop down boxes on it. The choices you make here will determine the rest of the questions you are asked. For example, overseas trips have a different set of questions to a general UK based visit.

To save you time, there is a ‘rolling programme’ option, for trips such as swimming lessons etc. that take place on a regular basis. You can enter the visit once, choose rolling programme, and input the approximate number of visits you expect to take place.

Complete the form and submit. Unless your visit is overseas, or outside the matrix of activities in the Guidelines - you will not need approval for the visit.
